August 31 - 22, 2005
Here are the photos I promised. After
working her way through the Novice, Open and Excellent classes,
Sheila has achieved the top designation in A.K.C. Agility, MACH, which stands
for Master Agility Champion.
This requires 20 "Double Q's" ( Two perfect scores in both the Standard ring
and the Jumper with Weaves
ring on the same day - Twenty Times!) and accumulating 750 speed points,
which are seconds under standard
course time. Sheila loves to compete, and we're very proud of our girl! Jim
and Denise Davis
Congratulations Jim & Denise &
Kudos to Miss Sheila who is 8 years old!
We are very proud of you! Watch for Sheila's performance page coming soon!
I am
so proud! Thanks for Nell! Love Jenny

We visited the lion park and took some lovely photos ... these are just the
ones I took on the digital, the better ones from my film camera will be on
their way soon!! There is one of me feeding the Giraffe, a few of some
White Lion cubs playing of about 3 months old, 1 Spotted hyena pup of
2 months old (he was abandoned and has lost his tail and one of his ears,
his litter mates did the damage), some young lions on the rocks. The
remainder are
wild lions out in the park females without mane and then the big male with
a huge mane
(I think the females were in season or close to it)
Hope you enjoy! I have some of the adult hyena's, cheatah, and some other of
the wild lions on film, I will send them to you soon.
From Mary Walberg in California:
Just wanted to tell you about
something heroic Toby (my almost two year old Aussie)
did yesterday. We had some children over for a swim in our pool. One of
the girls is not a strong
swimmer. She was really struggling and I was about to jump in when Toby jumped
in the pool and
swam towards the little girl, she grabbed onto him and he brought the little
girl to the side of the pool
and out of danger. Her name is Taylor and she is 9 years old. We have NEVER
trained him to do that
sort of thing. It was pretty amazing to watch. This is something that I have
only read about or watched
on TV. I have never witnessed an animal responding to a human's cry for help.
I am totally blown away!
He was rewarded with a bbq'd hamburger (we were barbequing them at the
time). He was happy :-)
Thank you, Ellen and Amy, for giving me such a great companion! Mary
Thought I would send you this photo
showing that Spring has arrived here in NZ. Weather
here is warm (much warmer than normal) and they are expecting some lovely
weather for the next
few days. August is meant to be our wettest month but so far, it has been
lovely. Went to a show
this past weekend and Zippo took WD at two of the shows.
Thank you Di, for
sharing this beautiful photo! To think, it's fall here!
Molly and Daisy send good wishes from their

Meanwhile, in Cadillac,
Michigan, Erika Prince, is hard at work
at her
County Fair! We have this update from Erika's mom, Candy:
Hi, all -- Just had to share with the
"family" how
Ms. Erika has done at the District Fair so far this year...
On Monday, she took BEST IN SHOW Rabbit (with a beautiful
little Mini Rex Rabbit), and won her huge junior showmanship
class, then went on to get a Reserve in exhibit and a Grand
in demonstrations. That day culminated in her being named Best Overall
Rabbit Exhibitor!! On Tuesday, she took BEST IN SHOW and RESERVE
IN SHOW with her show chickens. Erika raises and shows
Cochin Bantams and Buff Brahama Bantams also! (There's more
to her than just her Aussies!) She won another huge Junior Showmanship
class for poultry. Then she took Grand Champion
Market Cornish (meat chickens)!! She took a Reserve
in exhibit, and then a Grand in demonstration for poultry.
And if that wasn't enough, she went on to be named Best
Overall Poultry Exhibitor!!! Thanks for letting me share!
Back to the Fair until Sunday! Candy
Congratulations on a job well done,
Erika!
AND!!!!!! This just
in! This is Erika's 4th year in a row
with Grand Champion Market Chickens,
and Best in Show Chicken, and Best Overall Poultry exhibitor. On the rabbit
end, she has won the

years. This year she was
Reserve Overall Sweepstakes Exhibitor!! This is where the kids have to show
Steers, Lambs, Pigs,
