The family!  from L-R ... Cole - Dior - Lunar

Tragedy struck on Saturday morning at the Chicago International Dog Show.
Much loved, respected and well known, all breed AKC handler Mr. Roland Wilson
passed away of a heart attack while exercising his dogs at 6:30 am.

And in New York, AKC Judge J. Council Parker, died of a heart attack, while judging.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families.

It was a good day in Alaska too!  Malissa Castro reports:
And the Thornapples do it again! Congrats in Chicago!
Report from Alaska: Lil' Miss Lily went WB, BOW,and BOB at the ASCA show this morning!
My red male Stetson (the one I had down in Ohio the year before last) got his
third ASCA major and went Best Opp to Lily. At the afternoon show, Lily was Reserve
to my other blue bitch Beyonce (that I showed at Cleveland in Dec.)-the judge said
she just loved Lily and had a hard time deciding between her and Beyonce....
and Stetson's brother Bernie was WD, BOW & BOB to finish his ASCA CH!
Well that is one major out of the way for Lily....two more to go.
But we have to wait until June for the next ASCA show.
OK thats our report from Alaska

Kathryn Ross-Nash has news too:
Oh My Goodness!! Talk about excitement!!! That is such wonderful news about
Zippo!!! And the pups. We had a nice day here as well. Goose went RWD to a
major- AKC. There where many many nice dogs out there- so it was a proud
win! And Just want to report that Zachary has officially moved into the Open Classes
for Juniors- away we go!!! Kathryn

And from Natasha Baxter in South Africa:
Hi Everyone! Well we had a fabulous weekend in Cape Town!!!
and we are back safely after our 14 hour drive!

Jewel won Supreme Puppy .... an invitational to All Best Puppy in Show
winners under Mrs P Gellerman from USA.  She said she took her breath away
as she walked into the ring.  Take a look at Jewel on www.showdogs.co.za she
will be featured for the next week!  These are photos from last October, but
she has matured a lot since then.  The win photo of her was from last week.

Saturday, Strider dog took WD and BOB and Group 2 and he won the Junior
Group, Wynonna took Reserve BOB, Frost won Champion dogs class and Jewel WB
all Dollar children except Strider!

Sunday, Jewel took WB and BOB and Group 2 and she won the Junior Group too,
Strider took Reserve Best of Breed, Wynonna Champion bitch class and Frost
Champion dogs class, so once again it was a Strathaven line up on Dollar
Children! Mrs. Gellerman, I believe, does not like the merles and placed
black tri's in all the classes where she could.  I suggest if she is judging
you sometime soon, find a nice black tri so show to her, you'll do well and
possibly win the group!!

Phoenix, is unfortunately bald so did not feature this weekend, he got a 3rd
in the puppy class on Saturday and a 2nd on Sunday, he was beaten by puppies
with huge coats, but they have had such a hot dry summer I am not surprised
he is bald.

That is all for now, I will post the pictures of the dogs on the beach on my
website soon and a couple of Jewel from the show too. Natasha
