July 23 - Puppy Update from Ami Boxer in Florida!
All of the babies are 3 weeks old now! They are up on there feet and moving
all about. This week they have discovered each other and will play with
their new toys. Every day they become more steady on their feet and a bit
more of their personalities shine through.

Chante is still being a wonderful Mom to all 10 of them, even though their
little teeth are starting to poke through and soon she will want them
weaned! All have lovely length of neck and heads. We are so excited to watch
them grow.  Ami

You can see their updated photos here:

Our little girl, Gracie!
Thank you Ami Boxer for doing a fabulous job raising these beautiful babies!
Ami has sent photos of the Jake & Chante puppies!

July 23 - Puppy Update from Nikki Hengy!
The LaDew X Misty pups are four weeks old now and looking just grand!  My
niece Cassie is spending some time here helping out while I recover from a
surgery, and I just don't know what I would do without her!  Cassie has a
wonderful way with the little ones, and we laughed the afternoon away taking
pictures of the frisky darlings!!  Cassie's placement picture from Open
Senior came in from Nationals, too, so that is on the website as well;
pictured with Miss Zoe at 14 months ~ the older half-sibling of these
puppies.

You can see Cassie and Zoe's win picture, as well as four week old puppy
pictures at

 .
Sweet Thornapple Cuervo Gold cuddles with Chloe Afornetti.
Cuervo recently passed to the Rainbow Bridge at the age of 12 years.
Our sincere condolences to the Afornetti family.
Welcomed into the Afornetti family as an adult dog from a not so happy first home,
Cuervo  was blessed to be loved by them for so many years!

It's been a long time since I've talked with you, and it pains me to send this message, but I feel the need to do so.
Our dear little friend Kayla, who we received from you a little over 14 years ago was finally laid to rest earlier this week.
She was a beloved family member and brought us great joy and companionship for all those years.
Her loss is a difficult one, as she was such a personality and such a sweetheart. I've lived with dogs all my life, and have been
privileged to know some good ones, but Kayla was special. She trained easily and quickly, learned hand signals (which served us
well when her hearing started going), was an extraordinarily good frisbee player, was friendly to everyone, was very affectionate,
responsive and tuned in to whatever was going on. She was in short, a true light in our lives. When I say she will be missed,
I am understating greatly. I want to thank you so much for bringing this dog into our lives. I'm going to send a couple attachments
in the next mail, which are 2 pics. One is sort of a portrait, and the other is a fuzzy pic of her and I sitting on our back patio at the home where
she lived all her life. And she did have a happy life Ellen. Her 14 years with us went by all too fast. Thanks again, and sorry about this sad news.
I hope to be in touch with you again one of these days...Sincerely,, Joe Lentz

Kayla was a very lucky girl to share such love for 14 years!

Thornapple's Lil' Ms Behavin "Sassy Sue"
March 4, 1993  -- July 14, 2006

Well, here we have emptier hearts again. Sassy Sue lost her precious life to cancer today.
We still remember when we picked her up from the airport so many years ago. When we first saw her we said
"What a doll baby" Even at thirteen she was super cute. She had a good one, full of love and being spoiled rotten.
I miss her woo woo WOOOO !!! noise she would make when I was getting out of bed in the morning.

Our hearts go out to Jeanne & Al Riddle on your loss of two beautiful girls!

This weekend is my BIG judging appointment !!! Although I have been judging Aussies
for 7 years now ( 4 years at Championship shows) here in the UK, this year as you know is our first year
for CC's ( Championship Certificates ) we were allocated only 5 full sets ( one dog and one bitch Certificate)
and 2 shows with single certificates ( allocated to the BOB winner only).
Well I am one of the 5 lucky people to be allocated by our Kennel Club one of the Full sets !
This weekend is National Working & Pastoral Championship show.  I have 95 Aussies entered with 111 entries.
I am really looking forward to it .. and will let you know results ! Good luck to everyone showing this weekend !
 Hugs, Jayne

The Fancy Came Through!  New York Crop/Dock Bill Dead for 2006!!!!!
Thank you Carolyn Zernick for forwarding this exciting news!
We must stay vigilant in this matter!

NY Crop/Dock Bill Dead for 2006  - The New York State Legislature is now in recess, although they can be called back into special session at the behest
of the Speaker of the Assembly or Governor Pataki. The recess signals the effective end to the proposed ear cropping/tail docking ban bill, A. 11242.
Dog owners in New York and across the country are to be congratulated on their efforts to convince the legislature of the massive opposition to this bill.
Following introduction of A. 11242, the bill was referred to the Agriculture Committee but was never scheduled for a hearing. The lack of action on this bill
by the Agriculture Committee is an acknowledgement the impact of the concerted efforts of the dog community in opposing this legislation.

The 2007-2008 session of the New York Legislature will convene in January 2007 and the likelihood exists that some form of crop and dock ban bill could
be introduced. It is imperative that New York dog fanciers utilize the recess period to contact their Assembly members to establish relationships with the
legislators and encourage opposition to any crop/dock ban bill. Education of legislators is crucial to defeating repressive canine legislation.

The 2006 legislative recess does not signal the end of the fight over initiatives to ban cropping and docking. The purebred dog community must be
vigilant and prepared for the next onslaught of negative canine legislation impacting the right to own and breed purebred dogs.
The AKC Canine Legislation Department  will continue to monitor legislative actions in New York and around the country and will alert the fancy
upon the introduction of threatening legislation.
